Three men from Tampico, Tamaulipas, who are part of the crew of two vessels, are currently stranded in the waters of the Persian Gulf, awaiting intervention from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) to facilitate their return to Mexico.

According to the Tamaulipas Institute for Migrants (ITM), the sailors’ families have requested support to facilitate their safe return through the Mexican Foreign Ministry.

The director of the ITM, Juan José Rodríguez Alvarado, confirmed that the organization has already activated the necessary mechanisms in coordination with the federal government.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and have activated the protocols of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad and also those of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he announced.

He explained that the three men from Tamaulipas are part of the crew of two vessels flying the St. Vincent and the Grenadines flag, which are currently in waters near Qatar, within the Persian Gulf.

The situation has generated concern among their families due to the current tension in the area, where attacks against vessels and oil platforms have been reported.

“We have received instructions from Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya to be very attentive and monitor the situation these three Tamaulipas residents are facing,” Rodríguez said.

Tensions in the Middle East raise alert for Mexican marines.
The official emphasized that, regardless of their location, Mexicans have the support of the country’s authorities.

“Whoever they are and wherever they are, Mexicans, through our President Claudia Sheinbaum, will always have international protection wherever they are. This is especially true for the residents of Tamaulipas; we have been instructed to be very attentive to them,” he stated.

Authorities are working to establish contact with the vessels and assess the condition of the crew members.

The newspaper El Sol de México reported today that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it will attack the Middle Eastern offices of US technology companies it labeled as “terrorist spy companies,” including Microsoft, Apple, and Google, starting Wednesday.

“The main institutions involved in terrorist operations will be legitimate targets for us,” the elite military force stated in a communiqué carried by the Tasnim news agency.

The Revolutionary Guard stated it will attack the US technology companies’ offices starting Wednesday, April 1, at 8:00 PM Iranian local time (4:30 PM GMT).

“Employees of these institutions are advised to leave their workplaces immediately to preserve their lives,” the statement added. This comes amidst the ongoing situation while marines from Tampico remain in the Persian Gulf hoping to return to Mexico. (With information from El Diario Mx.)
