The high temperatures in Mexico City are already being felt in April, and water, despite being a basic resource, becomes indispensable, especially during these hot months. However, city authorities have announced that the water supply will be reduced for some days this month.

This means that some neighborhoods in certain boroughs of the capital could experience problems with their daily water supply.

The Mexico City Water Management Secretariat (Segiagua) reported via its official social media channels that low water pressure is expected during April.

This situation will affect some boroughs and neighborhoods of the capital, but you should know that if necessary, you can request a free water truck.

The Gustavo A. Madero borough will have the following affected neighborhoods:

The entire northern part of the borough

Meanwhile, in Iztacalco, the following areas will be affected:

Santa Cruz
Santiago Sur

Finally, in Venustiano Carranza, the following areas are expected to be affected:

Jardín Balbuena
Aeronáutica Militar
24 de abril
Álvaro Obregón
Moctezuma 1st and 2nd sections

The reasons for the water supply issues in Mexico City in April vary depending on the borough.

In Gustavo A. Madero, according to Segiagua, the issue is due to the low supply sent by the Valley of Mexico Basin Authority. This affects pumping at the Chalmita camp.

In Iztacalco, the low supply is due to repair work being carried out on the pumping equipment at the San Luis 17 well. Meanwhile, in Venustiano Carranza, which is by far the district with the most affected neighborhoods, the outage is due to replacement work.

Specifically, a 36-inch valve is being replaced at the corner of Fray Servando and Congreso de la Unión.

The time it takes for water service to return to normal in these districts and neighborhoods will vary, as will the reasons for the low pressure.

In the case of Venustiano Carranza, normal service is expected to be restored by 12:00 PM on Friday, April 10. Service is also expected to be restored to the Gustavo A. Madero (GAM) district on the same date.

Finally, in the case of the Iztacalco district, it will take longer for water service to be fully restored, as the work is not expected to be completed until Tuesday, April 14.

To submit a request, you must provide personal and location information. A tracking number will then be assigned, and the process will take anywhere from immediate to a maximum of two days.

The hotline offers 24-hour service to report general water problems and request free water deliveries in all 16 boroughs of the capital.
