The Mismaloya Pier, one of Puerto Vallarta’s most iconic landmarks, was inaugurated after its rehabilitation in a ceremony led by the Governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, accompanied by Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González and state and municipal authorities.

The project, which involved an investment of 80 million pesos, allowed for the restoration of this coastal area, returning functionality and value to a spot renowned for both its history and its tourist significance, having been the setting for the film “The Night of the Iguana.”

According to the project’s technical documentation, the work included the construction of a pier of approximately 172 square meters, supported by eight foundation piles and a reinforced concrete structure. In addition, a nearly 350-meter-long walkway was developed, improving mobility and access in the area.

As part of the comprehensive rehabilitation, work was also carried out on a stone retaining wall with a concrete coating, extending approximately 275 meters, as well as the construction of distinctive urban elements such as an arch and a landmark representing the site.

The project also included the installation of 21 pedestrian lights, street furniture, and the addition of vegetation and trees, with the aim of improving the appearance and functionality of the public space.

With the rehabilitation, the pier and its surroundings were transformed to offer better conditions for visitors, service providers, and local residents, thus enhancing the tourist experience.

Furthermore, the arrival of vessels was organized, contributing to a more efficient and safer operation of activities in the area.

The governor emphasized that these types of projects are part of a strategy to revitalize strategic spaces, improve urban quality, and consolidate Puerto Vallarta as one of the most important tourist destinations in the country.
