This is how the police mafia operates in Champotón: The abduction: Three patrol cars surrounded me as if I were a highly dangerous criminal. They dragged me out of the car, hitting and struggling with me, not caring that I was with my partner. They physically assaulted us. The kidnapping: One police officer grabbed the steering wheel and another got in the back, pointing his service weapon at us. They took us “kidnapped” in our own vehicle to the police station.
The extortion: They demanded 2,500 pesos in cash. There was no receipt, no system, no legal process. It was a “ransom” payment so they would let us go. The accomplice: The “civic judge” is nothing more than the cashier for this gang. She took the money directly and refused to provide a single document. They all split the loot. Champotón police: They’re disgusting. Seeing them “patrol” in sneakers, without discipline, but with their fingers on the trigger to intimidate passersby, is proof that the force is rotten.
They’re hitmen with badges. To the mayor and Governor Layda Sansores: Is this the “Jaguar” you boast so much about? Is this the security you talk about? Your police are robbing families.
