Zacatecas hosts the Mexican Women’s National Soccer Team

This Friday, April 10, the Carlos Vega Villalba Stadium will be awash in green as it hosts the Mexican Women’s National Team, which will face the U.S. Virgin Islands in the opening match of the qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

This Wednesday afternoon, the Mexican team arrived at the Leobardo C. Ruiz International Airport in Calera, coming from Mexico City, to play this historic match in Zacatecas.

Later, in the city’s historic center, as part of the Zacatecas 2026 Cultural Festival, the Mexican squad received a warm welcome from Zacatecas fans who gathered outside the team hotel on Hidalgo Avenue.

For the first time, Zacatecas will host the Mexican National Team in the lead-up to the World Cup.
