Disability certificate in Jalisco 2026: requirements, modules and how to process it

461

If you live in Jalisco and have a disability, you need an official certificate to access support programs like Inclusive Welfare, which is now available in municipalities within the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG), such as Tlaquepaque. This certificate is issued by the National System for Integral Family Development (DIF) and can be obtained at various centers throughout the state.

The process is free and available to people with any type of disability (physical, sensory, intellectual, or psychosocial). Once you obtain the certificate, you can access financial assistance programs, rehabilitation services, adapted transportation, and other state and federal benefits.

Requirements to Obtain a Disability Certificate in Jalisco (Necessary Documents)

To obtain a disability certificate, you must go to a DIF office in your municipality and present the following documents. It is important to bring both originals and copies in case the staff requests them.

Required Documents:

CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) of the person with the disability.
Valid INE (National Electoral Institute) or official ID (if under 18, present birth certificate and school ID or parents’ ID).
Personal email address (required, as notifications and appointments are sent via email).
Medical summary from a specialist, no more than 6 months old. This document must specify the type of disability, the diagnosis, and, if applicable, the degree of impairment.
Recommendations before going:
Verify that your medical summary is signed by a specialist (neurologist, traumatologist, psychiatrist, etc., depending on the type of disability).
If the person with a disability is a minor, they must be accompanied by their mother, father, or legal guardian.
Bring a printed copy of your email address in case it is needed.
People with visual disabilities protested in front of the Ministry of Economy because they have not received their monthly support payments for the past four months. They ultimately reached an agreement to meet with authorities from the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Welfare on Monday, December 7th, at the Ministry’s premises.
