The case of Carolina Flores, the former beauty queen murdered in Mexico City, remains under investigation by the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJ), and the search continues for Erika ‘N’, the main suspect in the crime, against whom an arrest warrant has already been issued.
Although authorities have not revealed any new findings in the case, details have emerged, such as Carolina Flores’s last wishes and why her husband did not report the crime sooner; all thanks to recent interviews given by her mother, Reyna Gómez Molina, to various media outlets.
Carolina’s mother has shared with several media outlets that since her daughter’s death, she has been in contact with her son-in-law, who was the one who informed her of her passing. According to what she shared on the program ¡Siéntese quien pueda! (Sit down, whoever you can!), Alejandro called her while she was filing the corresponding police report.
“On Thursday, at 1:35 p.m., I received a call from my son-in-law. I said, ‘How is Caro? Tell me how she is.’ That’s when he told me she was dead. I started screaming like crazy. (…) In the distance, I heard a woman’s voice saying, ‘Tell me that the person speaking is my daughter, please tell me it’s her.'”
Her son-in-law’s response was negative, and he later revealed that his mother had shot her. According to her, what he said was, “No, ma’am, I’m at the Prosecutor’s Office, and they’re calling me. My mother shot her.”
Upon learning the situation, and because her grandson is 8 months old, she offered to take care of him, but according to her, her son-in-law refused, claiming he was following Carolina’s last wishes.
This was reportedly Carolina Flores’s last wish.
Carolina’s mother shared that when she offered to take care of her grandson, her son-in-law told her that it had been Carolina’s wish that this not happen.
“I asked him if he wanted me to take care of the child, and he said no, that as a couple they had already had these kinds of conversations. In one of them, she told him, ‘Swear to me that if anything happens to me, neither my mother nor your mother will take care of him’… he wants to have his way.”
Mrs. Gómez also shared that she questioned Alejandro about reporting the murder a day after it happened, to which he replied that he did it because he was afraid they would take the baby away and that the baby would end up in a foster home.
“He was worried about the baby, thinking that if he was arrested, the baby would go to a foster home. He even made sure to record videos so they would know how to feed the baby while he was away taking care of all the paperwork. That’s what he told me.”
The case of Carolina Flores continues to shock the country due to the viral spread of a video captured by the apartment’s security cameras, in which several gunshots can be heard, but also because of the coldness of the alleged perpetrator; when questioned by her son about what happened, she simply replied – “Nothing, she made me angry.”
