Omar García Harfuch, head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), highlighted the decrease in the perception of insecurity in Mexico, according to the results of the National Urban Public Security Survey (ENSU), conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).
Through social media, the Secretary of Security stated that the perception of insecurity has fallen to its lowest level since the beginning of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration. He added that, according to the National Urban Public Security Survey, progress in security matters was confirmed, and he acknowledged that the results are the product of a “sustained strategy” coordinated with intelligence and a territorial presence. “We continue working,” he wrote.
He also highlighted the growth in public trust in security institutions such as the Mexican Army and Air Force. The Ministry of Defense reached its highest level since September 2021, with 85.6% public trust. The National Guard’s public trust rating rose from 71.9% to 78.0%, while the Navy’s performance perception increased by 4 points.
