The Felipe Ángeles Train, which connects Buenavista with the AIFA (Felipe Ángeles International Airport), was inaugurated this Sunday, April 26, making its service available to everyone at a promotional fare.
“Today we can say: Mission accomplished,” declared Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum, who thanked the Army and all the teams responsible for the train’s construction.
The mayor noted that there were social issues throughout the construction process, especially with local towns and communities; however, it was through dialogue and agreements that the project was able to continue.
Sheinbaum celebrated the purchase of the Suburban Train from CAF (Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Allende) because it will connect with Hidalgo, and affirmed that “it is a train for the people of Mexico.” She also requested a second name for the AIFA station: Clara Krause, Felipe Ángeles’ wife.
Felipe Ángeles Train: Everything you need to know before using it
The Felipe Ángeles Train will operate similarly to the first branch of the Suburban Train, which connects Buenavista with Cuautitlán.
Train Schedule to AIFA
Service will run Monday through Friday from 5:00 AM to midnight, while on Saturdays it will open at 6:00 AM and on Sundays and holidays at 7:00 AM.
The last train will depart at 11:30 PM; however, we are working with airlines to adjust their schedules.
The trip from Buenavista to AIFA will take approximately 43 minutes, although the first leg will take about an hour.
Buenavista to AIFA Train Fares
During the first few days, the fare will be 45 pesos from Buenavista to AIFA. However, this is a promotional offer, and to use it you must use your Integrated Mobility Card, not the Suburban Train Card.
For shorter trips, the fare will be 11.50 pesos.
Once the promotional period ends, the official fares will be announced.
What stations does the train from Buenavista to AIFA have?
Keep in mind that the Felipe Ángeles Train not only serves as a route to AIFA, but will also be an alternative transportation option for northern Mexico State.
These are the stations it has:
Buenavista
Fortuna
Tlalnepantla
San Rafael
Lechería

La Loma
Teyahualco
Prados Sur

AIFA
The Felipe Ángeles Train may depart from its terminals every 10 to 15 minutes, as is currently the case with the first branch of the Suburban Train.
The new stations have temporary stairs, and the permanent staircases are expected to be completed by mid-year.
Following an initial test run, led by Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada, and the Governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez, an event was held to inaugurate the service, which will begin at 4:00 PM.
Clara Brugada stated that the Suburban Train’s inauguration will establish Buenavista as the rail hub of Mexico City, as it was confirmed that the train to Querétaro will also depart from that station.
This project will strengthen metropolitan airport connectivity, according to Brugada, who reiterated that the “pharaonic” New International Airport of Mexico City (NAIM) in Texcoco was unnecessary.
Authorities expect the train to serve 82,000 passengers daily.
