In response to the capture of Audias Flores Silva, alias “El Jardinero” (The Gardener), suspected criminals carried out acts of vandalism, including the burning of businesses and vehicles, in the municipalities of Tecuala, bordering Sinaloa, as well as in Ahuacatlán and Acaponeta, according to official sources.

Car fires have also been reported on some sections of highways bordering the state of Jalisco.

In Tecuala, it was reported that unknown individuals started a fire at the Aurrera supermarket and an OXXO convenience store; while in Xalisco, at least two cars were burned in the middle of a public street, leading to the suspension of public transportation.

In the municipality of Ahuacatlán, authorities reported vehicle burnings and roadblocks. They also reported that temporary shelters were activated for people stranded on the highway.

Authorities in the municipalities of Acaponeta, Tecuala, Ahuacatlán, Xalisco, and Santa María del Oro advised residents to stay home unless absolutely necessary due to recent events in various parts of the region.

The Security Cabinet reported that following the events in Nayarit stemming from the arrest of Audias Flores Silva, alias “El Jardinero,” by the Mexican Navy, in coordination with authorities from all three levels of government, an operational deployment is underway in the state. Currently, no road blockades have been reported; six vehicles and six stores have been burned, with no injuries or deaths.

The Cabinet stated that the rumor circulating on social media about a supposed suspension of school activities in Nayarit is false and urged the public to stay informed only through official channels and not to spread rumors that create uncertainty.

The Security Cabinet thanked the authorities of Nayarit and Jalisco for their cooperation.
