Governor David Monreal Ávila announced that the state of Oaxaca will be the special guest at the 2026 Day of the Dead Festival in Zacatecas, strengthening cultural exchange and promoting Mexican traditions.

During the announcement, the governor emphasized that this invitation represents an opportunity to enrich one of the state’s most important events by incorporating Oaxaca’s rich cultural heritage, renowned for its traditions, indigenous communities, and artistic expressions, such as the emblematic Guelaguetza.

Governor David Monreal affirmed that Zacatecas has solidified the Day of the Dead Festival as a celebration that “is here to stay,” thanks to the participation of its citizens and the quality of its activities.

He noted that previous editions have featured guest states such as San Luis Potosí, Michoacán, and Veracruz, which has allowed Zacatecas to showcase not only its local traditions but also those of other regions, giving the festival a national character.

Governor David Monreal emphasized that the 2026 edition promises to be one of the most outstanding, with a program that will include cultural performances, artistic presentations, and a large-scale concert, in addition to the special participation of delegations from Oaxaca, who will share their identity, traditions, and cultural richness with the people of Zacatecas.

He also highlighted that Oaxaca’s presence will allow “the very heart of that state” to be present in Zacatecas, creating an atmosphere of celebration, tradition, and pride in Mexican roots.

Likewise, the state governor congratulated the Honorary President of the State System for the Integral Development of the Family (SEDIF), his wife Sara Hernández, as well as her team, for the effort made to consolidate festivals that strengthen social coexistence and cultural development, such as the Day of the Dead, the Festival of Lights, and the celebrations of Children’s Day and Mother’s Day, which are added to the grand Cultural Festival and the Folklore Festival.
