The Mexican Navy reported that during takeoff of an MI-17 helicopter at the Fourth Naval Region headquarters in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, a power failure occurred in the aircraft’s main engine, resulting in an emergency landing.
“No injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of this incident,” the agency stated.
Safety protocols were immediately activated, and insurance assessments are underway to determine the appropriate procedures.
The aircraft had barely begun its flight and failed to gain altitude, forcing the crew to disembark.
In the same state, a press conference is being held by the newly appointed interim governor, Yeraldine Bonilla Valverde, and the Secretary of Citizen Security, Omar García Harfuch.
