Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya stated that Tamaulipas has received unprecedented support from the federal government, enabling the implementation of a new model that provides free medical care, medications, and supplies for women.
This collaborative work in healthcare, characterized by “Humanism and Quality,” is reflected in the operation of the IMSS-Bienestar program, the strengthening of hospitals, the technological modernization of medical services, and a government vision that puts people first.
He further explained that the new healthcare model rests on two components: direct medical care in units, hospitals, and health centers, and public health focused on prevention, promotion, and epidemiological surveillance.
In his Sunday radio program, Villarreal Anaya mentioned that one of the most significant advancements is the Comprehensive Health platform in Tamaulipas, initially aimed at pregnant women, which allows them to monitor their pregnancy through a mobile application.
She stated that with this tool, users can report warning symptoms—headache, dizziness, swelling, fatigue, or rapid weight gain—so that the medical system can activate follow-up and determine if they require a consultation or hospital referral.
She also commented that around 65 percent of pregnant women are under this monitoring model, with encouraging results: zero maternal deaths in the official registry and a significant decrease in neonatal risks.
She highlighted the use of digital tools to address diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular conditions, and heart attacks, through early alerts, medical follow-up, and recommendations for healthy lifestyles, which has even allowed for emergency response and a reduction in associated mortality.
In this radio program, she considered that Tamaulipas is experiencing a period of effective coordination with the Mexican government, with direct support in strategic areas such as health, education, security, and tourism, which has allowed for progress in hospital infrastructure, digital connectivity, medical care, tourism promotion, and the rebuilding of the social fabric.
The federal administration maintains a level of political will and resource support “unprecedented,” he emphasized.
Regarding infrastructure, he announced that the General Hospital of Ciudad Madero will be fully operational by the end of May, benefiting more than 500,000 people without social security. This is in addition to the General Hospital of Matamoros, already incorporated into the IMSS-Bienestar program, and the new ISSSTE Regional Hospital in Tampico.
Concerning the Tamaulipas Cancer Center, he specified that, with support from the Federal Government, a linear accelerator was acquired to replace the old cobalt unit, which will allow for more precise radiotherapy.
