The count begins on April 2 in Cuapiaxtla, where an armed attack left one man dead and another seriously injured. On April 5, a young man between 17 and 18 years old was found dead beside the Mexico-Veracruz highway, on the border with El Carmen Tequexquitla, and has not yet been identified.

On April 11, the death of a man who had been shot days earlier in a bar in Apizaco was confirmed. Subsequently, on April 12, in Atlangatepec, a case of femicide followed by suicide was recorded: a woman was found dead with stab wounds, and a few meters away, the body of her alleged attacker.

On April 21, in Santa Anita Huiloac, Apizaco, the body of a man with a fatal abdominal wound was found. On April 24, in Zitlaltepec, a 38-year-old man was shot to death inside his pickup truck.

The most critical point occurred on April 29, when three violent incidents took place in different parts of the state:

In Huamantla, a man was found dead with gunshot wounds in farmland.

On the border between Tlaxcala and Puebla, a body wrapped in plastic wrap was found with signs of extreme violence.

In Nanacamilpa, a young man reported missing was found dead and buried in the yard of a home after a search warrant was executed.

In total, 13 people lost their lives violently in April, in municipalities such as Cuapiaxtla, Apizaco, Atlangatepec, Zitlaltepec, Xaltocan, Tecopilco, Nanacamilpa, and Huamantla.

The State Attorney General’s Office is continuing its investigations into each of the cases; however, no significant arrests have been reported so far.

The tally positions April as one of the most critical months in terms of security in Tlaxcala during 2016, with the violence concentrated on a single day.
