Following the earthquake that occurred on Monday morning, May 4th, with a magnitude of 5.6 and an epicenter west of Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca, which was slightly felt in the capital city, Tlaxcala City Hall personnel immediately activated safety protocols to safeguard the well-being of employees and the public.
Similarly, at the Municipal DIF System facilities and the Sports Complex, those inside gathered at the designated assembly points, following the corresponding prevention instructions.
For its part, the Municipal Civil Protection Coordination conducted inspection patrols at various locations in the capital to rule out any potential damage resulting from the seismic activity.
It is worth noting that the Tlaxcala municipal government, headed by Alfonso Sánchez García, will participate in the First National Earthquake Drill 2026, scheduled for May 6th at 11:00 a.m. This action aims to test emergency protocols and strengthen the culture of prevention among public servants and citizens in the face of these types of events.
