The power outages experienced during the first weeks of the hot season have already begun to affect small businesses in Mérida and municipalities in the interior of the state, reported Luis Enrique Contreras Ramírez, president of the National Chamber of Small Businesses (Canacope).
The business leader indicated that the power failures have caused losses of perishable and frozen products, mainly in stores located in the southern part of the city, although there have also been reports from the north and in rural communities.
“There have been reports from stores that have suffered losses due to power outages, including frozen products, perishables, cold cuts, and all of that,” he stated.
