Félix Sandoval and four other individuals detained during the operation carried out on May 1st at the Animalandia Maya establishment, located on Fifth Avenue in Playa del Carmen, filed an injunction against actions attributed to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

This was recorded in the docket of the Ninth District Court, where case file 485/2026 is detailed.

According to the lawsuit filed, the plaintiffs allege acts of incommunicado detention, enforced disappearance, mistreatment, psychological torture, as well as unlawful arrest and detention following the operation carried out by state authorities at the property known as Animalandia Maya.

The legal recourse was filed against the Public Prosecutor assigned to the Detention Control Unit of the State Attorney General’s Office in Playa del Carmen.

According to the court agreement, the preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 18, while the constitutional hearing was set for June 3.

During the operation, Cristian “N”, Ever “N”, Martín “N”, and Johan “N”, as well as the owner of the establishment, were also arrested. They remain in custody while investigations continue into possible crimes related to the mistreatment and exploitation of wildlife.

The case has garnered public attention due to the conditions in which some of the seized animals were found, as well as the accusations now being made by the detainees regarding the legal proceedings following their arrest.
