The State Secretariat of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE) accompanied a delegation from the municipality of Chihuahua through its Binational Affairs and Industry Directorate.
They followed up on agreements between the two cities, with the goal of strengthening institutional ties, collaboration in strategic sectors, and the generation of business opportunities in the border region.
As part of the agenda, the delegation participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Advanced Manufacturing District, a project focused on strengthening the region’s industrial capabilities.
In addition, they toured the Innovation Factory, where participants learned about its infrastructure and operating model geared toward innovation, entrepreneurship, and business development.
Regarding economic promotion, meetings were held with the El Paso, Texas Chamber of Commerce, where investment opportunities and import/export facilitations between the two cities were presented.
During the meetings, the potential of Chihuahua and El Paso as a logistics and commercial platform was highlighted, offering advantages for strengthening economic exchange and attracting new productive projects.
The agenda also included the exchange of experiences to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as to strengthen entrepreneurship and startup ecosystems on both sides of the border.
In the tourism sector, the importance of the industry as a regional economic driver was recognized, in coordination with organizations such as National Travel & Tourism, for its role in attracting visitors and boosting local economies.
The delegation was comprised of business organizations and strategic clusters, including American Industries, the Chihuahua Aerospace Cluster, Canacintra Chihuahua, Index Chihuahua, DESEC, the Chihuahua Municipal Government, the Chihuahua Tour Operators Association, Startup Chihuahua, and the Metalworking Cluster.
Through its statement, SIDE highlighted that, with these actions, the State Government seeks to strengthen binational integration and position Chihuahua as a competitive region, through strategic alliances that generate economic development and new opportunities for the state.
