The second edition of the 21K Tarahumara The Home Depot by Brooks 2026 promises to be a sporting and social celebration in Chihuahua.
More than 1,500 runners will gather to cover the 21K and 5K distances in an event that transcends competition and joins forces with the 21K Chihuahua Capital with a greater purpose: to support the Rarámuri community with educational scholarships through the José A. Llaguno Foundation.
More than a race, it will be a gathering of solidarity and collective effort, where every step reaffirms the impact that sport can have on social transformation.
“This race represents a milestone in Chihuahua. What this event encompasses is its dedication to education, uniting the Rarámuri community with runners from all over Mexico. We’ve been working for 13 years, achieving great results, benefiting 30,000 people, and our purpose remains relevant. In this race, everyone wins: it’s an emblematic cultural event, and we seek to create educational opportunities for young people and children,” said Víctor Girón, Public Relations Manager for The Home Depot.
The race, organized in collaboration with the José A. Llaguno Tarahumara Foundation, has many unique features. One of the most symbolic is that winners and participants receive medals and items made by local artisans.
“The runners don’t arrive alone; they’re part of a cultural exchange. Running in the mountains is a philosophy of life. When students see that the money raised goes toward their education, they know it’s worth leaving home. They will become active members of the community and of Mexico. We create a life plan for each of them,” stated Karla Hernández, director of the José A. Llaguno Foundation.
With these words, the organizers emphasize that the 2026 Tarahumara 21K The Home Depot by Brooks will not only be a sporting event but also a bridge between those who run for passion and those who run for a social purpose.
“We’re going to unite runners who run for the sport and those who run for education. Education opens doors and allows children’s lives to be more equitable, enabling them to progress at a more level playing field,” Hernández concluded.
