The Director of Roads and Transportation (DVyT) for the State Government, Marco Antonio Osuna Moreno, announced a preliminary report on the plan to improve the vehicle fleet of Sinaloa’s urban public transportation system.

This initial evaluation, conducted jointly with the concession holders, indicates that 77 percent of the buses in Culiacán and Mazatlán offer air conditioning to passengers, making their commutes in both cities more comfortable.

In a statement released on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Osuna Moreno affirmed that the concession holders and their partners continue to fulfill the commitments made to the State Government in exchange for the recent fare increase in Sinaloa.

Among the agreements reached, Osuna Moreno highlighted the investment in improving the mechanical and bodywork conditions of the buses, ensuring they operate under optimal conditions to enhance service.

In addition to air conditioning, they committed to repairing and refurbishing the buses, installing fixed seats that are properly painted and in good condition, replacing damaged tires, and repairing brakes and the drivetrain in general.

Finally, the official pointed out that the goal of this plan is that, by the end of the holidays, the physical and mechanical condition of the buses and the percentage of air conditioning units in operation will have significantly increased, in addition to guaranteeing a service frequency that meets the needs of users, with no more than 10 minutes of waiting time on all routes.
