The national leader of Morena, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, announced during her tour of Chihuahua the promotion of impeachment proceedings against Governor María Eugenia Campos to strip her of her immunity, accusing her of violating national sovereignty.
“We are going to initiate impeachment proceedings and we will accompany them with social mobilization. We are not politicizing the issue; on the contrary, from day one we requested a report that has not yet been delivered,” declared the Morena leader.
Ariadna Montiel Reyes reiterated her accusation that the governor of Chihuahua facilitated foreign intervention, following the revelation that CIA agents were allegedly collaborating with the state.
Montiel Reyes indicated that the citizens’ march will take place on Saturday, May 16, at 4:00 p.m. in Chihuahua, starting from the Pancho Villa roundabout and proceeding to Hidalgo Plaza to demand the impeachment and removal of immunity of Governor Campos Galván.
The leader stated that this is a mobilization to which all citizens are invited, and that she will maintain her presence in the state.
She also emphasized that there are many outstanding security issues in Chihuahua and asserted that Governor Maru Campos is among the governors who least frequently attend the Peacebuilding Roundtables.
During her tour of Chihuahua, Montiel Reyes held a press conference in which she condemned the National Action Party’s (PAN) support for foreign nations, first with the involvement of foreign agents and then with the backing of PAN governors for the election of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, whom Montiel said has insulted the Mexican people.
In response, the Mexican Attorney General’s Office (FGR) announced that it is investigating possible national security crimes following the deaths of two U.S. agents, allegedly from the CIA, in a drug operation in Chihuahua, and that it will summon approximately 50 people for questioning.
Attorney General’s Office spokesman Ulises Lara indicated that the participation of foreign agents in the operation and the circumstances under which it unfolded have led the institution to open an investigation into that matter.
“The possibility that crimes against national security were committed is being considered,” he stated.
