State and federal authorities carried out an operation this Tuesday in various locations in Tezontepec de Aldama, Hidalgo, resulting in the arrest of the municipal Public Security Director, the deputy director of the police force, and a former municipal police officer, all of whom are being investigated for alleged links to criminal activities in the region.
The operation was led by the Hidalgo Security Cabinet, in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office and the State Public Security Secretariat, following complaints and intelligence work that allowed authorities to compile an investigation file and obtain arrest warrants for the individuals involved.
As part of the operation, authorities conducted searches of several properties in the municipality, including locations associated with the police force.
During the raids, evidence was seized and will be incorporated into the official investigations.
In a statement, the municipal government confirmed the operation and the arrest of the three former officers.
Mayor Ana María Rivera stated that the local administration facilitated the investigations and expressed its willingness to cooperate with the relevant authorities.
The mayor affirmed that since the beginning of the current administration, the Director of Public Safety and his team have received institutional support to strengthen security in the municipality; however, she maintained that the city council will respect the investigations and will not cover up any illegal activities.
To date, state authorities have not released information regarding the specific charges against those arrested or the legal progress of the case.
