Five people who allegedly committed the assault and robbery of more than 3 million pesos against a person in Oaxaca are believed to be linked to robberies of bank customers in the state of Veracruz, the Oaxaca Attorney General’s Office reported.

This Wednesday, May 13, during a press conference, a report and account of the events surrounding the robbery in Oaxaca on April 29, 2026, were presented. Bernardo Rodríguez Alamilla, the Oaxaca Attorney General, reported that, following the investigation, the alleged criminals are believed to be connected to similar incidents in other states across the country.

“The Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO) dismantled a criminal network dedicated to the violent robbery of bank customers that operated in various states, as a result of specialized criminal intelligence work, technological analysis, and inter-institutional information sharing,” the official statement reads.

The suspects are four men and one woman identified by the initials A.I.T.M.; R.D.P.; I.M.L.; M.A.S.V.A.; and A.M.S.R., the latter identified by Oaxaca authorities as a likely operator and coordinator of the criminal network, as it was confirmed that he worked at the Banamex Intelligence and Monitoring Center at its headquarters in Mexico City.

According to the statement, A.M.S.R., from his position, allegedly obtained and facilitated strategic information for the commission of these crimes in states such as Veracruz, Puebla, the State of Mexico, and Aguascalientes.

“This criminal cell maintained a coordinated operating scheme to identify, follow, and violently rob bank customers after they made high-value banking transactions. The Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO) formally notified the Attorney General’s Offices of the aforementioned states, as well as the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR), the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV), and the National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Financial Services Users (CONDUSEF), in order to strengthen the lines of investigation and determine responsibilities,” the official statement reads.
