She Was Arrested Along With Two Other People During a Search in the Barrio de San Lucas; Authorities Seized Suspected Drugs and Firearms
After several hours of police mobilization, three people were arrested at a property in Huamantla, Tlaxcala, on the night of Tuesday, August 25. Among them was María Guadalupe “N”, a woman identified in reports about the case as “La Reina del Sur” and described as a priority target. The arrest is part of a federal investigation related to alleged drug dealing, the full scope of which will still have to be determined by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The operation drew the attention of residents of the Barrio de San Lucas, where federal and state authorities maintained a presence for much of the day. The intervention took place at a property located on 21 de Marzo Street, after the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) obtained a judicial warrant to enter the property and search for evidence related to the investigation.
The operation was led by personnel from the FGR and involved the participation of the Tlaxcala Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), the National Guard, and the Mexican Army. The processing of the property lasted more than eight hours and ended at approximately 9:00 p.m., when the ministerial and forensic procedures carried out inside the property were completed.
What Did Authorities Find at the Property Where “La Reina del Sur” Was Arrested?
The search uncovered various items that will now have to undergo the corresponding analyses. Among the reported findings were suspected doses of drugs and firearms, whose type, quantity, and possible connection to any crime will have to be established through forensic examinations and the ministerial investigation. The items were seized and placed under federal authority’s control.
María Guadalupe “N” was not the only person taken into custody. Two other adults were arrested during the operation, while two minors who were inside the property were placed under the protection of the authorities. So far, authorities have not publicly reported what relationship existed among all the people found at the location, nor have they detailed the possible charges against the three adults individually.
What Is Known About María Guadalupe “N,” Identified as “La Reina del Sur”
Although she has been described in local reports as a priority target, information about María Guadalupe “N” has not yet been fully disclosed. Official information such as her age, criminal record, or possible membership in a criminal organization is unknown. Authorities have also not publicly specified what evidence led them to consider her a relevant target in their investigations.
Following her arrest, a version also began circulating about a possible connection between the detainee and “El Jarocho,” a man arrested on July 30 in Huamantla and identified as allegedly having ties to a criminal group with a national presence. However, this point has not been officially confirmed, so for now it should be considered unofficial information and not an established fact by the authorities.
The next step will be in the hands of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR). The results of the examinations carried out on the substances, firearms, and other evidence recovered will be fundamental in determining whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed criminally and, if applicable, establish what responsibility could correspond to each of the detainees.
