A total of 712 Mexicans were deported by air from the United States to Chiapas this weekend, security sources reported.
On Saturday, three flights landed at Tapachula International Airport from Texas, aboard aircraft from Global Crossing Airlines and Eastern Air Express.
On Sunday, three more flights arrived at the southern border, departing from cities in Texas and Arizona.
Of the total, 611 are men, 70 are women, and 31 are minors, according to security reports.
During their journey from the United States to Chiapas, the deported Mexicans are escorted by agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and upon landing, they are handed over to the National Institute of Migration (INM).
At the airport, they are recognized by federal, state, and municipal agencies through the “Mexico Embraces You” program, which provides them with legal, administrative, and financial assistance to return to their home states, as many Mexican nationals arrive from central and northern Mexico.
According to public data from the National Migration Institute (INM), since Donald Trump’s arrival to the presidency of the United States and the tightening of anti-immigration policies—in January 2015—203,000 Mexicans have been deported.
Of that total, 15,834 Mexican nationals have arrived in Chiapas, according to the data up to March in the Monthly Bulletin of Migration Statistics.
