The person who simply seems to have no knack for dialogue, we are told, is the Governor of Baja California Sur, Víctor Castro Cosío (Morena). He has ignited yet another conflict—this time with holders of tourist transport permits—who allege that, despite operating fully within the law, they are being subjected to harassment by state inspectors. We are told that business owners requested roundtable discussions involving taxi drivers, transport operators, and authorities in an effort to resolve the impasse; however, Governor Víctor warned that he would not yield to pressure—even in the face of road blockades—and vowed that the law would be strictly enforced. This move was akin to “adding fuel to the fire,” and the conflict has since escalated. More than one observer was quick to point out that a constructive solution is always preferable to confrontation. Ouch!
We hear that there were quite a few “dropped jaws” over in Puebla, following an announcement by Morena’s national leader, Ariadna Montiel Reyes. She revealed that an internal investigation has been launched against the Mayor of Chignahuapan, Juan Rivera Trejo (Morena), for “acts of frivolity” and a possible violation of the party’s austerity principles—specifically, for throwing a lavish quinceañera mega-party for his daughter, an event that sparked fierce criticism. We are told that figures from the opposition burst into laughter upon hearing the news, noting that Ms. Montiel Reyes ought to be sanctioning more than half of the party’s mayors, officials, and local leaders—as they claim that Morena members in Puebla tend to act as if they were royalty and the very soul of the jet set. I mean, really!
The one who continues to stumble in his desperate attempt to portray the situation in Jalisco as “all good,” we are told, is Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro (MC). He recently shared a video on social media showing a person water-skiing on the Las Pintas Dam—one of the region’s most heavily polluted bodies of water—where state authorities themselves (that is to say, his own administration) have detected clandestine discharges of raw sewage. We are told that people reminded Don Pablo that reality is not the way he attempts to portray it—something that remains all too evident in the contaminated water flowing daily from taps in many Guadalajara neighborhoods—and they urged him to focus on addressing what truly matters instead. Zas!
