A group of high school students from Centro de Estudios Tecnológicos del Mar 32 recorded a teacher allegedly searching through their personal belongings without permission after students repeatedly reported the disappearance of valuable items.
As a result, on May 17, the administration of CETMAR 32, through the Secretaría de Educación Media Superior de Sonora, announced that the case was under investigation in order to “clarify the facts and determine the appropriate actions.”
Authorities also stated that, while the investigation is ongoing, “the teacher involved has been temporarily removed from his duties.”
The video was later shared on social media, where both students and online users expressed outrage over the incident.
What happened at CETMAR 32?
According to local media reports, students at CETMAR 32 had repeatedly complained about missing belongings, including headphones, money, and wallets that disappeared from their backpacks while they were outside the classroom.
In response, the students reportedly hid a cellphone between classroom desks to record what happened when the room was empty.
The footage allegedly captured a man entering the classroom quietly and searching through the students’ backpacks while trying not to move them too much.
At one point, he reportedly removed a wallet from one backpack, examined it carefully, and then returned it to its place.
After identifying the alleged suspect, the students informed their parents about the incident.
Local media identified the man as José Pedro “N,” who reportedly taught Ethics classes at the school.
Educational authorities confirmed that both parents and students involved in the case filed a formal complaint.
As of five days after the school’s public statement, CETMAR 32 had not released additional updates regarding the teacher’s status or the outcome of the investigation.
