Baja California solidified its presence in the 2026 Michelin Guide Mexico after receiving its fifth Michelin Green Star, an award given to the Damiana restaurant for its practices focused on sustainability and the responsible use of resources.

Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda highlighted that the state accounts for almost half of the eleven Michelin Green Stars currently awarded in the country, strengthening the position of the Valle de Guadalupe as one of Mexico’s leading gastronomic destinations.

The restaurant, led by chef Esteban Lluis, already held a Michelin Red Star since 2024 and was now also recognized for maintaining a model based on local ingredients, fair trade, and collaboration with regional producers.

Furthermore, Baja California expanded its presence in the guide with the addition of Fauna in the Bib Gourmand category, as well as Amapola, Comal, and Fireside to the list of recommended restaurants.

The Michelin Green Star distinguishes restaurants committed to sustainable practices, environmental responsibility and a close relationship with producer communities, a model that has allowed Baja California to strengthen its gastronomic recognition at the national and international level.
