Coahuila and Durango will be hit by strong gusts of wind this Wednesday; weather forecast

61

The weather in Coahuila and Durango for this Wednesday, June 3, will be marked by a contrast between high afternoon temperatures and the possibility of rain in various regions, especially in northern parts of Coahuila and parts of Durango.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) forecasts temperatures exceeding 40 degrees in some areas of both states, while showers, electrical activity, and strong wind gusts are also expected.

Where will it be hottest?

The SMN maintains the forecast of values between 40 and 45 degrees in areas of Coahuila and Durango, mainly during the afternoon.

In the Comarca Lagunera, Torreón will reach a maximum temperature of 36 degrees, with a minimum of 18. Similar conditions are expected in Gómez Palacio and Lerdo, with a very warm environment after noon.

For their part, Monclova and Piedras Negras will record maximums close to 33 degrees and minimums of 21 degrees. Although the heat will be less intense than in La Laguna, the thermal sensation could increase due to the humidity present during some hours of the day.

In Durango capital, the maximum temperature will hover around 33 degrees, while the minimum will be between 18 and 19 degrees, generating cool mornings and warm afternoons.

Will it rain in La Laguna?

There is a probability of rain during this Tuesday, although generalized precipitation is not expected.

In Torreón, the forecast indicates up to a 90 percent chance of rain and accumulations close to six liters per square meter. The sky will remain mostly clear for much of the day, but isolated showers cannot be ruled out towards the afternoon or evening.

For Gómez Palacio and Lerdo, the National Water Commission forecasts light rains within the range of 0.1 to 5 millimeters, resulting from a low-pressure zone influencing a large part of Durango.

Although the forecast rainfall is moderate, it could be accompanied by electrical discharges and wind gusts.

Which cities have the highest probability of rain?

The southeastern region of Coahuila presents the highest potential for precipitation.

In Saltillo, partly cloudy skies, a maximum temperature of 28 degrees, and a minimum of 14 are expected. The forecast includes up to 48 liters per square meter and a 90 percent probability of rain, so significant storms could be recorded during the day.

In northern Coahuila, particularly in areas near Piedras Negras, the SMN forecasts intervals of showers within the regional forecast for the state.

For Durango, most of the state maintains a possibility of isolated rains, especially in municipalities such as Durango, Gómez Palacio, Lerdo, Nazas, Cuencamé, and Tlahualilo.

How will the wind be?

The wind will be another factor to consider this Tuesday.

In Torreón, speeds between 10 and 15 kilometers per hour are expected, with gusts close to 39 kilometers per hour. Saltillo could record gusts of up to 48 kilometers per hour, while in Piedras Negras they would reach 40 kilometers per hour.

In Durango capital, gusts between 30 and 40 kilometers per hour are forecast.

These conditions could cause isolated dust storms (tolvaneras) in open areas and momentarily reduce visibility on highways.
