- Businessman José Lobatón, owner of Proyectos 9, failed to deliver the Brhiza del Mar tourism development project.
- Lobatón is alleged to have received 22.5 million pesos for the construction of the Brhiza del Mar project, which was never built.
- The businessman is currently in prison over an alleged 800-million-peso fraud affecting 200 people who purchased apartments in Monterrey and San Pedro Garza García that were never constructed.
According to the investigation file, the businessman failed to fulfill commitments related to the Brhiza del Mar tourism development in the coastal state of Quintana Roo.
In addition to the legal proceedings he is already facing in Nuevo León, José Lobatón, owner of Proyectos 9, was served with another complaint yesterday, also for alleged fraud, in Quintana Roo.
According to the case file, the businessman failed to complete the Brhiza del Mar tourism development project.
As a result, a state judge ordered pretrial detention, meaning the accused will remain incarcerated in a correctional facility.
The defense requested additional time to address the legal situation of their client, and the hearing to determine whether charges will formally proceed was rescheduled for June 9.
Authorities allege that Lobatón received 22.5 million pesos for the construction of the Brhiza del Mar project, which was never built.
The situation is similar to what occurred in Nuevo León, where projects such as the LoLa, LaLo, and Moca Azul towers, among others, remain unfinished.
On May 20, agents of the State Investigation Agency arrested the developer in compliance with an arrest warrant for the alleged crime of fraud.
