Students from the Ayotzinapa Rural Teachers’ College held a rally on the old Tixtla bypass, demanding that, 27 months after the murder of their classmate Yanqui Kothan Gómez Peralta, a sentence be handed down against the three police officers involved.

The protest began around 10:30 a.m., after the students arrived at the location in five buses and blocked traffic.

During the rally, the demonstrators commemorated the events of March 7, 2014, and demanded punishment for those responsible: three state police officers who belonged to the ‘Centauro’ rapid response unit.

Lilia Vianey Gómez, the mother of the slain student, asked the authorities not to halt the investigations and to ensure that the crime does not go unpunished.

“We are here demanding justice for my son. Twenty-seven months later, the injustice continues, and we don’t want the case to be forgotten,” the grieving mother stated. They will not stop the mobilizations.
They also expressed their solidarity with the social movements and teachers’ demonstrations that continue in Guerrero and other parts of the country.

The students stated that they will continue to promote protest actions and mobilizations until justice is served for their classmate.
