The Mexican government unveiled the Olinia vehicle model this Sunday, June 7. Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo drove the car to the main stage at the Santa Lucía Military Base.

Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum presided over the presentation of the Olinia electric vehicle, developed by Mexican scientists and engineers, as proof of the talent in Mexico.

The event took place in Zumpango, State of Mexico, where Sheinbaum emphasized that the prototype marks a transition to a country capable of developing technology and creating value.

“They told us we couldn’t, that we shouldn’t; they told us that innovation was reserved for other places. But that’s false. If there’s one thing that characterizes Mexicans, it’s their creative capacity,” the mayor stated.

She reiterated that the ability to imagine, create, and transform has always been alive in Mexico and recognized the researchers and students who worked on the project for 18 months.

The president explained that Olinia means “Movement” and is part of the country’s projects to join the digital and technological development, stating that it is more than an electric vehicle: “It is the vision of a Mexico that takes advantage of the intelligence and creativity of its young people.”
