As part of the State Government’s efforts to boost tourism promotion, the Secretary of Tourism Development, Carla López-Malo Villalón, and the Undersecretary of Tourism Promotion, José Miguel Vélez Cortés, welcomed passengers arriving on 12 new routes operated by Volaris at Hermanos Serdán International Airport.
During the welcome events, officials presented souvenirs featuring the “Puebla, The Heartbeat of Mexico” destination brand to visitors arriving on the nine new domestic routes—Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta, San José del Cabo, Zihuatanejo, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, and Villahermosa—as well as the three international routes: Houston, Los Angeles, and Newark.
Secretary Carla López-Malo Villalón highlighted that the 12 new routes began operations on June 1 and 2, the result of coordinated efforts between the Mexican Federal Secretariat of Tourism, led by Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and the State Government of Puebla, led by Alejandro Armenta Mier.
“We want more people to visit Puebla. Today, our state is more connected than ever and is well-prepared to welcome domestic and international tourists who wish to discover our history, heritage, culture, gastronomy, our 12 ‘Magical Towns’ (Pueblos Mágicos), and over 60 municipalities with tourism potential,” she noted.
The Secretary of Tourism Development added that these new routes strengthen the state’s air connectivity, allowing more visitors to discover its tourism wealth, generate economic impact, and contribute to the well-being of Puebla’s families.
Fernando Grano Morales thanked the State Government for opening new international connections, noting that these routes would allow him to reunite with his son after two years apart. He emphasized that this new connectivity represents an opportunity to bring families closer together and facilitate travel between Mexico and the United States. For her part, Aída Gutiérrez, a native of Tlaxcala, expressed her appreciation for the launch of these new routes; she now has a convenient local travel option that eliminates the need to travel to Mexico City, resulting in time savings, greater comfort, and improved accessibility.
Similarly, 100-year-old Esther Soriano noted that the opening of new air connections offers greater ease of mobility and a better travel experience for older adults.
The State Government, led by Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier, reaffirms its commitment to pursuing initiatives that strengthen connectivity, attract more visitors, and cement Puebla’s status as one of Mexico’s premier tourist destinations.
