Alba Lucía Castañeda, a 19-year-old Colombian woman, was murdered on June 8 while traveling with a man identified as Iván Darío Nieto Luque, alias “Siberiano,” in a vehicle through the Tepito neighborhood of Mexico City. Preliminary reports indicate that both were intercepted by individuals riding motorcycles.
According to reports, the attackers fired multiple gunshots at them. Although the alleged perpetrators have not yet been identified and the motives for the crime remain unknown, authorities are analyzing security camera footage from the area where the double homicide occurred.
Key Clues from Security Cameras in Mexico
While Mexican prosecutors continue investigating the case, the Investigative Unit of EL TIEMPO revealed that the two victims had reportedly met with other individuals minutes before the attack. However, the reasons for that meeting have not yet been established.
According to the young woman’s father, the Colombian man had been in Mexico for four months and intended to help his daughter “start a business.”
“She had told me she would be on vacation and would return in a month, but unfortunately it turned out to be the ‘trip of death,’” José Castañeda told Citytv.
Although many questions remain under investigation by Mexican authorities, key videos showing what happened minutes before and during the shooting have already circulated on social media.
In the first moments of the footage, a motorcycle carrying two individuals can be seen making a suspicious pass along the street while closely observing the vehicle in which the victims were traveling.
Seconds later, when the car began moving through the Tepito neighborhood, the men returned and opened fire multiple times. The footage captured the moment when the vehicle began to stop while the attackers fled without leaving any trace of their whereabouts.
In another angle of the video, the reaction of a man wearing a blue sweater was captured just as the first gunshots were heard. What happened afterward remains unclear, as the video cuts off at that point.
Testimony from the Young Colombian Woman’s Father
The father of the Colombian woman questioned whether the attack may have been related to a threat against Alba Castañeda’s companion. However, this version has not been confirmed by authorities, and the motives behind the attack remain unknown.
“Maybe he really wanted to help her, but he had his own problems, and because of that, my daughter died,” he said.
He added:
“They killed her, and she was the only thing I had, the most important thing to me… my daughter met that person, and maybe he was not as good as he seemed.”
José Castañeda stated that “several armed men, without saying a word, shot at them… as far as I understand, they arrived on two motorcycles.”
Regarding the repatriation of the 19-year-old woman’s body, this newspaper learned that the necessary payments have already been made to a funeral home in Colombia
