Natural attraction “Poza Verde” gains attention in the Mixteca region of Puebla
In the Mixteca region of Puebla, a natural attraction is beginning to gain attention: the cenote known as “Poza Verde”, a space that is gradually becoming part of efforts to promote ecotourism in the municipality of Tulcingo del Valle.
This site is located in the auxiliary community of Xixingo de los Reyes and is part of initiatives led by the State Secretariat of Tourism Development of Puebla, in coordination with local authorities, to highlight lesser-known natural destinations in the region.
Poza Verde is located approximately 18 kilometers from the municipal seat. According to reports, the site stands out for the turquoise color of its waters and a river current that runs through part of the area, allowing activities such as swimming.
In addition to its aquatic features, the surrounding environment preserves natural conditions that allow the observation of regional flora and fauna, which has been highlighted as an important element in its tourism promotion.
During the project presentation, state authorities stated that a tourism dissemination strategy with local, national, and international reach is planned, with environmental protection and responsible use of the site as its central focus.
In this context, it was explained that the area is part of a low jungle or dry forest zone, home to species such as deer, coyotes, opossums, squirrels, iguanas, and snakes, as well as vegetation including cuajite, rabo de iguana, agave espadilla, and otate.
The municipal president of Tulcingo del Valle, Marubet Meza Rodríguez, has stated that this project seeks to create new opportunities for the community, traditionally linked to migration and remittances, by incorporating tourism as an alternative path for development.
A natural environment in the Mixteca opening up to tourism
Poza Verde is being integrated into the region’s natural attractions, where interest in ecotourism has been growing in recent years as a way to experience the landscapes of southern Puebla.
According to information presented, the area allows direct interaction with the natural environment, which has led to its promotion as a space for visitors seeking outdoor activities in contact with local water and vegetation.
The stated objective is that these spaces can be visited without altering their ecological balance, prioritizing conservation practices and respect for biodiversity.
