Turicato will celebrate its 94th anniversary as a municipality with the First Encounter of Traditional Music and Tabla Dance, as well as the fourth edition of the Mezcal and Enchilada Festival, activities that will take place from June 25 to 28.
The mayor, Graciela Hernández Arreola, emphasized that Tierra Caliente has much to boast about in gastronomy, music, and mezcal production.
“Turicato is celebrating, and we want to invite you this June 25th; we have hardworking people who love music, dancing, mezcal, and above all, good food,” she said.
The mayor highlighted that the municipality has more than 20 distilleries and a significant artisanal mezcal production.
“We have great musicians and a mezcal with more than 100 years of tradition; we want these customs to be preserved,” she stated.

For his part, mezcal producer Mayor Gallegos reported that there are currently 22 distilleries operating in the region.
“Turicato has increased its mezcal production, and we have 22 distilleries in operation; it’s a handcrafted product,” he commented.
Traditional cook Lisandra Guido Estrada invited everyone to sample one of the region’s most representative dishes.
“The enchilada is a delicacy, and we are proud to be able to showcase it; we hope you’ll join us, you won’t regret it,” she said.
Meanwhile, Uber Figueroa, a representative of the traditional music groups, explained that there are between 15 and 20 groups in Turicato dedicated to preserving the roots of Tierra Caliente.
“We want to demonstrate that our music and the tabla dance are still alive and that they are part of our identity,” he noted.
During the festivities, there will also be a rodeo, a dancing horse competition, sporting events, and free musical performances.
