The leader of the Morena party in Yucatán, Carlos Bojórquez Urzaiz, sparked controversy by referring to Andrés Manuel López Obrador as “the worst president Mexico has ever had” during a meeting in the municipality of Tizimín.
The moment was captured on video and initially shared on digital platforms by users and journalists, including Audelino Macario.
While the Morena member was speaking about the so-called transformation movement, he uttered a phrase that appears to have been a slip of the tongue.
“Morena and its allied parties are the transformation of Mexico. We are the fourth transformation, which is already on its second phase. It was started by the worst president Mexico has ever had, named Andrés Manuel López Obrador, for whom I would ask for a big round of applause,” he said.
The clip has gone viral on social media, where users agree that it was a slip of the tongue by the politician.
