The 2026 Mole Fair will take place on June 27th and 28th in San Lucas Atzala, in Calpan

The Secretariat of Tourism Development, in coordination with authorities from the municipality of Calpan and the State Secretariat of Culture, announced the eleventh annual Mole Fair of San Lucas Atzala, to be held on June 27 and 28. Organizers expect 10,000 attendees and an economic impact exceeding 2 million pesos.

In recognizing the traditional cooks for preserving this ancestral dish that distinguishes the people of Puebla, the Director of Programs and Projects, Juliana Rojas Balanzategui, emphasized that this celebration honors local traditions and strengthens the influx of visitors, which translates into economic well-being for families in Calpan.

For her part, the Director of Cultural Heritage for the Ministry of Arts and Culture, María Graciela León Matamoros, mentioned that visitors, in addition to enjoying traditional mole with free-range turkey, will be able to discover other attractions in San Lucas Atzala, such as handicrafts, textiles, embroidery, traditional sweets, Nahuatl language workshops, and cultural activities.

In acknowledging Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier for promoting tourism in the communities on the slopes of the Popocatépetl volcano, the Director of Tourism for Calpan, Abner Daniel Méndez Sánchez, indicated that the municipal government is also investing in this sector for the benefit of the local population.

Finally, traditional cook Yolanda Palillero Ramos explained that eight women from the region will be participating in this event, offering bean tamales, rice tamales, enmoladas with turkey breast, and pinole water, all made with organic ingredients sourced from the municipality.
