Due to rising water levels in various rivers and bodies of water caused by recent rainfall, Civil Protection authorities in the State of Hidalgo have raised the alert level to yellow in the Mezquital Valley, Sierra Alta, Sierra Otomí-Tepehua, and Huasteca regions.
The measure was taken after monitoring conditions at the Tunititlán bridge in Mixquiahuala de Juárez; the Calabozo River in Huautla; and in the municipalities of San Bartolo Tutotepec, Huehuetla, and the community of Chapula in Tianguistengo, where constant surveillance is being maintained due to the behavior of the waterways.
Given this situation, the public is advised to stay informed about evolving weather conditions, prepare personal documents and essential items, and identify evacuation routes and temporary shelters in case they become necessary.
Residents were also advised to avoid crossing rivers, streams, or areas with flowing water, as water levels could rise rapidly. Meanwhile, state and municipal brigades continue their patrols to assess any risks and respond promptly to any emergencies resulting from the rainfall.
The rains of the past few hours caused damage primarily in the Pachuca metropolitan area, where floodwaters inundated roads and entered businesses and homes; as well as in the municipality of Tula de Allende, where avenues were affected and water entered a department store.
