Elements of the State Public Security Secretariat, through the State Preventive Police and the Mexican Army, in coordination with the National Guard, the Navy Secretariat, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic, and the State Attorney General’s Office, seized long guns, a grenade launcher, grenades, thousands of rounds of ammunition, magazines of various calibers, and two stolen vehicles in the municipality of Mazatlán.
During ground reconnaissance in the community of Lomas de Monterrey, the participating military and police personnel, operating in a coordinated manner, located two vehicles that appeared to be abandoned beside a canal. Upon verifying the identification information of both vehicles, it was confirmed that they had been reported stolen. Furthermore, during an inspection, weapons and other items constituting a crime were found inside.
The following items were seized at the scene:
- One 2024 Jeep Wrangler, without license plates and reported stolen.
- * One Mazda CX-50 SUV, 2025 model, reported stolen.
- One Barrett .50 caliber rifle.
- One AK-47 rifle, 7.62 x 39 mm caliber.
- One M16 rifle, .308 caliber.
- One 40 mm grenade launcher attachment.
- Two 12-gauge shotguns.
- Six 40 mm grenades.
- 2,870 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.
- 490 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition.
- 36 rounds of .50 caliber ammunition.
- 20 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition.
- 40 magazines of various calibers.
The vehicles, weapons, ammunition, grenades, and other evidence seized were turned over to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, the authority responsible for conducting the corresponding investigations and determining liability.
With these actions, the Federal and State Governments reaffirm their commitment to safeguarding the security and peace of Sinaloa society. Citizens are encouraged to promptly use 911 to report emergencies and 089 to file anonymous reports.
