The bodies of two brothers, Carlos Enrique and Santiago, originally from Querétaro, were recovered from clandestine graves after disappearing in Mazatlán in April 2025.

The discovery was made by the collective Por las Voces Sin Justicia (For Voices Without Justice) in the rural area of Concordia, a mountainous municipality that, since last February, has registered the location of at least 20 graves containing bodies, including those of 9 of the 10 miners from a Canadian company.

This occurred on May 9th after a search coordinated with the support of the Specialized Agency for Forced Disappearance in southern Sinaloa, part of the State Attorney General’s Office. During the searches, the group of searchers pointed out the lack of support from the State Search Commission, an institution that has not yet completed its search operations in Concordia, an area known to have several clandestine grave sites.

The young brothers were originally from San Juan del Río and disappeared in Mazatlán, where they arrived in April 2025 for a vacation along with José Isaías Rosey, who remains missing.

From the moment communication was lost with them, relatives in Querétaro reported that they were in Concordia, based on the location of Carlos Enrique’s cell phone.
