Mexico shines with 16 medals at the Gay Games Valencia 2026

Mexico kicked off its participation in the Gay Games Valencia 2026 with a bang, winning 16 medals: nine gold, three silver, and four bronze at the competition held in Spain.

After being officially presented as the flag bearer at the CONADE Villas Tlalpan, the national delegation embarked on its journey with the goal of reaffirming its status as one of the top contenders in the various disciplines.

Swimmer Kenneth Montiel has emerged as the standout performer, securing four gold medals in the 100-meter backstroke, 200-meter freestyle, 200-meter backstroke, and 400-meter freestyle events.

Another Mexican athlete who has shone brightly is Osvaldo Martínez, who has earned three gold medals in the 400-meter, 1500-meter, and 5000-meter events.

It is hoped that this brilliant and triumphant performance by the Mexicans will continue in the following days to bring their participation in the competition, which will end on Sunday, July 5, to a close with a flourish.
