From October 7 to 11, Hermosillo will host the first edition of the Sonora Film Festival, an event that aims to foster dialogue among Sonoran filmmakers and bring the public closer to local and national film production.

José Esteban Pavlovich, the festival’s director, commented that the event will feature film screenings, the participation of guest filmmakers from across the country, and a call for entries for short film creators.

“Short films of various genres are welcome, including fiction, documentary, experimental, animation, or hybrids of these genres. Music videos and works created for advertising purposes are not eligible,” he said.

Among the requirements for participation, short films must not exceed 40 minutes in length and must have been produced in 2024, 2025, or 2026.
