Traffic was halted this afternoon on the highway connecting to Reforma—near the Río Viejo (First Section) settlement in the municipality of Centro—directly in front of a company that supplies materials to the oil industry.

The road closure was reported around 3:30 p.m.

Motorists report lines of vehicles stretching over 500 meters in both directions. Authorities advise taking alternative routes.

Family members and residents of Río Viejo (First Section) gathered near the Moguel Fluidos company to demand the release of four individuals whom the company has accused of theft. The families claim that the legal action was taken in retaliation for the workers filing a claim with the labor conciliation board to receive their profit-sharing payments.

“They are being accused as retaliation for demanding the profit-sharing they are legally entitled to,” a spokesperson stated.

The individuals involved are Esteban Álvarez Sánchez (14 years with the company), Alexander Vera Jiménez (6 years), Hugo Andrés Alonso Pérez (6 years), and Julio César Delgado González (3 years).
