Because the Mexican government cannot—and will not—guarantee our safety.
Every day, thousands of Mexican families who live and work in the United States take to the highway to visit our parents, children, and siblings…
And we do so with our hearts in our mouths.
Fake checkpoints, blatant extortion, violent assaults, and chilling rumors: that those who refuse to pay are being brutally beaten and threatened with assault rifles.
Our relatives are being humiliated, robbed, and beaten in their own land.
Meanwhile, the government stands idly by or looks the other way. The police are conspicuously absent… or, worse, appear to be involved.
Enough of this incompetence.
If the Mexican State is incapable of controlling its highways and protecting its people, then it should acknowledge its failure and grant a special, temporary permit to Mexicans residing in the United States to legally carry the firearms we already own in this country.
Without ridiculous caliber limits. With a simple process.
We didn’t come here to wage war. We came to see our families.
But we’re not going to keep offering our necks like sheep while they extort and attack us.
We have the right to defend our lives and the lives of our loved ones.
If you can’t protect us…
at least let us protect ourselves.
Who else is fed up with this constant humiliation?
Comment loudly.
