In Oaxaca, members of the Triqui Unified Struggle Movement (MULT) marched this Monday, July 6, 2026, from the Fountain of the Eight Regions to the city’s Zócalo (main square) to demand justice for members of their organization who have disappeared or been murdered, and to denounce the lack of progress in the investigations of these cases.

The march concluded with a rally in front of the Government Palace, where the protesters pointed out the delays in the investigation files and the lack of response from the authorities.

The MULT stated that during the current state administration, 24 of its members have been murdered in the state.

Led by Octavio de Jesús, Adán Mejía, and Eleazar Ortiz, they reiterated their demand to clarify the cases of disappearance and homicide registered in the Triqui region, as well as to guarantee security conditions for the communities.

The protest in Oaxaca City took place on the 19th anniversary of the forced disappearance of Daniela and Virginia, members of the MULTI (Multiple Organization of the Triqui People), whose case, they pointed out, remains unpunished despite the years that have passed.

The MULTI is a major Indigenous social and political organization from the Triqui region of the state of Oaxaca.

Founded in the 1980s, its main objectives are the defense of their territory, self-determination, the preservation of their culture, and the fight against the historical marginalization of their people.
