Since the World Cup began in Mexico City on June 11th, and continuing until early Monday morning, health authorities have provided a total of 3,563 medical consultations and transported 93 people for various reasons, ranging from injuries to heart attacks, according to Mexico City Health Secretary Nadine Gasman Zylbermann.
These consultations have been provided to both Mexican citizens and foreigners during their stay in Mexico City.
At a press conference in the Old City Hall, the Secretary specified that the majority of the consultations provided, totaling 3,438, were for non-critical situations. Another 109 were for non-critical cases that did require attention; 11 cases were classified as code red, meaning serious situations requiring priority transport; while five cases were classified as code black, meaning deaths. “The deployment of a large pre-hospital medical team and inter-institutional support has allowed us to reduce risks and mitigate damage, given the scale of the celebrations,” he stated.
On the other hand, Gasman Zylbermann detailed that on July 5, during the Mexico-England match, the agency provided 801 services, with 26 transfers; of the total, 490 were on Paseo de la Reforma, with 20 transfers; 71 in the Zócalo, with one transfer; and 240 services inside the Ciudad de México Stadium, where there were five transfers.
“The main reasons for seeking medical attention were: contusions, wounds, fractures, alcohol poisoning, high blood pressure, and anxiety attacks,” he specified.
