Are cyclones heading to Guanajuato? Warnings issued for possible heavy rains early in the week.

Early this Friday afternoon, July 10, preventive monitoring was initiated in the Pacific Ocean due to the potential formation of two low-pressure zones with the potential for cyclonic development next week.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued an advisory stating that, although the systems are still in the development phase and pose no immediate direct threat, the high probability of the southwestern system evolving could lead to a notable increase in strong wind gusts and cloud bands conducive to heavy rainfall in Guanajuato early next week.

Where are the potential cyclones forming?

The SMN has activated monitoring systems following the formation of a low-pressure zone southwest of Michoacán, Jalisco, and Colima, where there is a 70% probability of cyclonic development within seven days.

Additionally, another low-pressure zone was observed forming southwest of the Baja California Peninsula; this system carries a 20% probability of development within seven days.

Although neither has yet developed into a tropical cyclone, authorities are closely monitoring their evolution due to the potential threat they pose.

Will Guanajuato be affected?

Due to its geographical location, the state of Guanajuato does not currently fall within the area directly affected by these weather phenomena.

However, the influx of moisture from the Pacific Ocean driven by these systems will generate indirect effects, such as steady rain, showers, and thunderstorms.
