The Sinaloa Secretariat of Tourism announced the upcoming Surutatazo Off-Road 2026—one of the state’s most important off-road vehicle events—scheduled for August 14–16 in Surutato, in the municipality of Badiraguato. Organizers anticipate the participation of over 6,000 attendees and between 2,000 and 2,500 vehicles arriving from various municipalities across Sinaloa and other states, such as Sonora.
During the event’s presentation, state officials highlighted that this marks the twelfth edition of the Surutatazo, an event that has established itself as a key recreational and tourism activity in the mountain region.
Over 6,000 visitors and up to 2,500 vehicles expected
Sinaloa’s Secretary of Tourism, Mireya Sosa Osuna, noted that the Surutatazo offers an opportunity to showcase Surutato’s natural beauty and boost tourism in the Sinaloa highlands.
“The Surutatazo has become one of the most important recreational activities in the mountain region. For this edition, we expect the participation of more than six thousand attendees and between 2,000 and 2,500 vehicles from various Sinaloa municipalities, and even from Sonora,” she highlighted.
The official added that such events help diversify the state’s tourism offerings—traditionally centered on beach destinations—while generating economic benefits for mountain communities.
Sosa Osuna stated that the Surutatazo will generate significant economic activity for local service providers, restaurants, businesses, and cabin owners.
She reported that, with the event a month away, cabin occupancy has already reached 85%, reflecting strong visitor interest in participating in this year’s edition.
Furthermore, she affirmed that the Government of Sinaloa will continue to promote tourism events that drive economic development in communities throughout the state. Sinaloa’s Secretary of Public Security, Sinuhé Téllez López, announced that a special operation will be deployed to ensure the safety of those attending the Surutatazo.
Key measures include:
Patrols along the highways and roads leading to Surutato.
Public safety checkpoints at entry and exit points.
Traffic control operations to facilitate the arrival and departure of visitors.
Meanwhile, Civil Protection Director Aurelio Roy Navarrete Cuevas explained that ambulances, rescue units, doctors, and paramedics will also be on hand along the approximately 20-kilometer route to respond to any emergencies.
Surutatazo Off-Road 2026 Schedule
Event activities will take place over three days:
August 14: Participant registration.
August 15: A tour through the roads and communities of Surutato, followed by a public celebration at La Enramada.
