Authorities in the municipality of Emiliano Zapata intervened to rescue a small donkey suffering from various injuries after receiving a report of possible animal abuse.
Municipal health officials located the animal’s owner and, following the necessary procedures, took the donkey into protective custody for a veterinary examination. The assessment revealed pressure ulcers in the thoracic and lumbar regions, prompting immediate care.
Initial treatment involved cleaning the wounds, rehydration, and administering antibiotics to stabilize the animal’s health and prevent complications.
Subsequently, in coordination with relevant authorities and animal welfare organizations, the donkey was transferred to a specialized sanctuary, where it will remain under care while continuing its recovery. Meanwhile, authorities will pursue an investigation to clarify the circumstances and determine appropriate legal action.
The case gained public attention after a video circulated on social media showing the poor condition of the donkey; these images prompted the citizen report and the subsequent intervention by municipal authorities.
